I just finished reading Kevin Lakes’ newest book, Off Switch, and I am stunned. I am an avid reader, but never have I had the feelings that I have after reading this novel. I cried tears of sadness, pain, anger, and humiliation. Humiliation that “my” country would let unheard of things like this happen. Kevin has gone overboard to bare his soul and share his experiences with us. This is a MUST READ? for everyone. (cont. on Amazon)

Have you ever wondered why so many returning veterans who suffer with P.T.S.D. are not getting any help, and why so many of them end up committing suicide? If you actually want to know the answer, and you don’t want to hide from it and pretend that everything is fine, then this novel is for you.

Don’t expect to remain unchanged by reading it. It will stay with you.

This book could profoundly effect the way you think about military service and the human cost of war. I could? not put it down and thus read it, through my tears, in one sitting. I wish everyone who supports our nation’s troops (and, perhaps especially, those who do not)could read this novel, based on the disturbing experiences of one who served in Iraq. It has given me new insight into my own father’s experiences in World War II…

…”Off Switch” is particularly touching because it speaks of his personal experience? so poignantly. Though this is a work of fiction, Kevin actually stood in the shoes of this returning vet. His words are very telling of the pain these soldiers experience, not just in deployment, but arguably more so in their homecoming. Please take the opportunity to more completely empathize with our honored heroes by buying and reading this book. You’ll be glad you did.

Just finished “Off Switch” by Kevin E. Lake..a very emotional and deep book about PTSD. Anyone who has ever known someone suffering from this as a result of war (my folks were Viet Nam vets) or other causes (and, yes, you can suffer from this for many reasons), should read this book. The book relies heavily, I believe, on? experiences of the author… (cont. on Amazon)…

Just finished reading this, yesterday. Lake does a great job? at making the characters believable and compelling. The afterword was the hardest to read, not because it was poorly written, but because it is horrifying!
