State Funded Drug Rehab: State Funded Drug Rehabs – Things You Need to Know

Across the United States there are thousands of state funded drug rehab centers and facilities. The majority of these facilities provide comprehensive services and quality medical care. These same facilities have waiting lists as there is a great demand for beds in state funded drug rehabs. These rehabilitation centers are typically designed for lower income people or those living in poverty conditions. State funded drug rehabs will take in people whose health insurance plans do not cover rehabilitation on occasion as well.

States would like to modify the way the programs work with funding. The way the programs currently work is once an individual decides they need professional help for an addiction, they put their name on a waiting list. Unfortunately oftentimes the person has changed their mind by the time their bed becomes open on the waiting list.

When faced with needing rehabilitation for yourself or for a loved one you may ask yourself what are the advantages and disadvantages of going with a state funded program versus a private rehabilitation center. These centers that are funded by the state take care of most of the cost which means you or your family will not have to spend thousands of dollars on rehabilitation. On the other hand, if it is crucial that the person needing treatment is admitted immediately it may be a better choice to go with a private rehabilitation center as there is usually some sort of waiting list for state funded programs.

There are misconceptions in regards to the quality of treatment one will receive in a center funded by the state  versus a private center. While private centers can oftentimes look and feel nicer than the Ritz Carlton hotel, state funded drug rehabs are well-equipped and generally comfortable. Each state will vary depending on the funds it is granted for drug rehab centers.

Both centers funded by the state and private rehab centers utilize a 12-step program as well as the philosophy that a person needs to be torn down before they can be built back up again. Overall both state funded and private programs offer the same level of quality care.

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about drug rehab centers funded by the the state in your area, you should contact the state health services agency for options. Not every state is the same but this is the best contact universally for this type of information.
