What is Coricidin? Is it the name of the next president of Serbia?

  • Eagles says:

Reported Symptoms Include: increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure, increased pupil size, drowsiness, dizziness, slurred speech, unsteady gait, hallucinations, confusion, and nystagmus (involuntary rapid, rhythmic movement of the eyeballs).
An additional risk for teens is choosing the wrong Coricidinâ product. Some of the other Coricidinâ formulations include other ingredients such as acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol) and/or phenylpropanolamine (a decongestant). Overdoses of acetaminophen can cause liver damage. Large doses of phenylpropanolamine are toxic to the heart and central nervous system.

Some teenagers and young adults, 13-19 -years-of-age, are deliberately ingesting large amounts of Coricidin HBP for cough and Cold; as many as 15 tablets at one time, and they get the stuff right off the shelf at the neighborhood supermarket or drugstore.
Authorities say a growing number of teenagers are using over-the-counter cold medicines and cough syrup in excessive doses as recreational drugs –seeking what they describe as an LSD-like “high” from dextromethorphan, a non-prescription cough suppressant, an active ingredient of such products as Robitussin D and Coricidin D.

According to the DEA. “The abusers report a heightened sense of perceptual awareness, altered time perception and visual hallucinations.” Most are discovering the practice on the Internet (Teen jargon: Dxing, Robo-trippin’ and tussin’.) or from friends at school. Because the medications can be acquired legally, there is no means for tracking the breadth of abuse.

Dextromethorphan abuse is not new. Cold medicines have a history of being abused in an attempt to seek a cheap accessible high, but abusers often experience respiratory distress, slurred speech and hypertension.
Large amounts of Robitussin DM and other similar dextromethorphan-containing liquids have been uncommonly abused for years. This new trend of Coricidinâ abuse (taking 12-15 tablets) is an attempt to avoid drinking four to eight ounces or more of cough syrup at one time, a frequently nauseating experience. An excessively large amount of dextromethorphan could lead to coma and death.

Pharmacists, emergency department physicians, retailers, counselors, school nurses, teachers and parents (Lookout for excessive packages of cold medicine laying around.) need to be aware of this new trend.

  • Jeffrey P says:

Coricidin is a combination of medications acetaminophen (Tylenol) an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer), plus chlorpheniramine an antihistamine. Excess acetaminophen can damage the liver, and in extreme case cause liver failure. Excess chlorpheniramine will cause sleepiness (you may experience this even with a recommended dose), dry mouth and increased heart rate. If you or someone you know has overdosed on this medication, it is best to seek medical attention immediately. There are antidotes for both of these medications.

  • krisssssss123 says:

This video is dumb. As a person who actually has ADHD and has done? extensive research on it, I know how much the medication (when used correctly) actually helps. What this video failed to mention is how people properly and accurately diagnosed actually see reductions in addictive behavior including alcoholism, over spending, etc. If this was really educational it would discuss the benefits as well. People will always find ways to abuse anything…….

not trained like a dog you idiot, i said they are similar to dogs. it doesn’t matter who they are, they can always be trained. you should feel ashamed for putting him on amphetamines. you might as well give him cocaine. i used to use drugs all the time and i literally baffled that they give that shit to children everyday from the age of 6 until they turn 18. it’s an absolute travesty. their brains are still developing? and god only knows what fucked up shit it does to them

  • BabyGyrl1979 says:

You really feel that children should be trained like a DOG? WOW, I feel sorry for your children if you have or will have any. The med my son was on was addictive an when he came off it he acted like a person going threw drug rehab he was on it daily for 11 months and it took him 8 months to be him again completely. This school year he is a A and B Student and is a pretty easy going kid who has goals and dreams . and his focus is great like it? was before he was put on that crappy medication.

  • thomas lewis says:

In a perfect world synthetic treatments would be irrelevant, nobody would wear clothes, and we’d all be dancing in the fucking garden of eden. That’s awful nice of you to? post a bunch of poorly researched statistics on youtube, but If you care so much about the cause try and find a more productive way of scaring the shit out of people on youtube. Why don’t you look up the ingredients in the food you consume on a daily basis, or the number of lives that cigarets, and alcohol have claimed.

It helped think straigt and cleared my head of all distractions in order to accomplish my work, Some pple i knew that used it fucked around and didnt do shit.
