Human beings are the only species that support, and even encourage, the sick, weak and stupid at the expense of the innocent.
All of society is impacted by drug abuse… The abuser and his family are generally destroyed, the neighbors and friends have had to deal with theft and violence, and the community has had to pay the bill through increased taxes and decreased personal liberties.
If a person has the desire to ingest some substance that will do damage to him, he absolutely has that natural right although he currently does not have a legal right to exercise his natural rights.
He does not have the right to expect the community at large to fix his problem, or restore his health for him. This is what we have allowed, and this is what we currently do; We say “you can’t take this substance, but if you do we will ‘rehab’ you and let you live off of the efforts of the taxpaying productive members of society”.
The solution to this type of problem is as natural as nature itself; Attrition and natural selection.
1. Legalize all substances for personal consumption.
2. Allow the sick, weak and stupid to consume all they want of anything they wish and can get through honest means.
3. Allow the healthy, strong and relatively intelligent to defend themselves from the sick, weak and stupid by any available means including deadly force.
4. Allow no tax dollars to be expended toward salvaging the worthless addicts, however do allow private charities to make any attempt they see fit so long as no public funds are expended.
5. Allow employers to make decisions of employment based on a candidate’s drug status.
6. Allow no government assistance of any type to persons who use drugs.
7. Revoke voting rights from known drug addicts.
The sick, weak and stupid will eventually die or be killed off. The failed “war on drugs” will finally come to an end along with the huge waste of money that it has proved to be. People will enjoy greater freedoms and therefore be happier and less likely to commit crime. Without the burden of supporting the freeloading addicts, the economy will be stronger and people will have more disposable income due to lower taxes.
The downside to this type of solution is that people like b0 would never get elected. Poverty pimps would run out of people to pander to. Politicians like frank, pelosi and reid would be out of work – and kick-backs and contributions. A huge number of federal, state and local law-enforcement thugs would have too much time on their hands and will have run out of drug traffickers to shake-down for spending money… they might need to be re-tasked.
All in all I think the best way to solve the drug problem is to legalize all substances and let the drugs solve the problem for us.
