Should I Give My Sons Father Another Chance?
Question by veronica: Should i give my sons father another chance?
we went out for 5 yrs. we have two young boys. we were engaged, living together and now i am a couple of weeks away from moving out. He had/has a porn addiction, he rejected sex with me all the time, has history of childhood molestation that he chooses not to get help on, even though he knows it affects sex and intimacy for him. i cried, yelled, begged for two years for him to get help because i was falling out of love with him. Now We’ve been broken up for 6 months and despite that we’ve lived together he has not tried at all to make things right.
i dont love him anymore but i have this sense of obligation for my kids. I feel like a bad mother but i also know hes had ample time to do something but chose to wait until now… Opinions?
@liza2 i really appreciate ur type of response. Ive researched as well. I know the statistics and that is why this was such a hard decision for me. We did go to counseling and then he stopped because “we couldnt afford it”….he has many times said he would change and get help but after two weeks or so it would always go back to the same. i know how heavy of a decision it is. ive even reached out to my church but since my kids father does mot like my religion or churh he chose not to go with me. its been difficult but i just feel like i gave him opportunities, many, and he didnt take them seriously enough to do something. And about the molestation part, ive been molested as a child. I had some therapy but i chose to go before i even had kids. All i know is that when it comes to my children i would do anything, so why not swallow his pride or embarrassment and get the help to keep his family together.
